Welcome to this tutorial on how to create a consistent character using MidJourney version 4.
In this tutorial, we will guide you through the process of uploading a photograph, using it as a prompt, and modifying the prompt to create a variety of character designs.
Let’s start!
First, make sure that you have selected MidJourney version 4 in the settings. To do this, type “/settings” in the chat and ensure that “Modern Version 4” is selected. At the moment, MidJourney version 4 only supports the rendering of square images, so make sure to upload a square photograph.
To use your photograph as a prompt, click on the image and then click on “Open Original.” This will open the image in your browser. From there, you can select the image and press “Copy” to copy it to your clipboard. Close the browser window and then paste the image into the “Image Prompt” field by pressing “Ctrl+V” on a PC or “Command+V” on a Mac.
You can also modify the prompt by adding words or phrases after the image. For example, if you want to create a character with a specific name, you can type the name followed by a backslash. This can affect the appearance of the character, with feminine names tending to result in more feminine designs and masculine names tending to result in more masculine designs.
To create a full body image or an image with additional elements, you can add words or phrases that describe those elements. For example, if you want to create a character riding a bicycle, you can type “riding a bicycle” after the image in the prompt. Keep in mind that the resulting image may not include the full bicycle, but rather just a part of it.
Once you have written your prompt, press “Enter” to submit it. The image generation process may take some time, depending on the complexity of the image and the workload of the servers. When the image is ready, it will be added to your MidJourney account, where you can view and download it.
To create a consistent character, you can repeat this process using the same photograph as a prompt and modifying it with different words or phrases. This will allow you to create a range of character designs that are all based on the same core image.
